My favourite scene in the whole film would be when Melissa Mccarthy rode a motorcycle and she fell right after because, according to her it had a roof.
3. Film name: The Martian
Year Released: 2015
Director: Ridley Scott
Main Cast: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis and Chiwetel Ejiofor
Studio: 20th Century Fox Studio
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$ 478.4 million
Brief synopsis:
The crew of Ares III were forced to leave Mars when an unexpected Martian storm happened. However, Mark Watney was left behind by his crew under the assumption that he is dead as they were unable to communicate due to his biomonitor being damaged. He had to be independent and try to ‘survive’ for the next 3 years until he reach the site of landing of Ares IV and hence he used his knowledge as a botanist to make a makeshift organic potato farm. After returning to earth, Watney worked with NASA as a survival instructor to train the new candidates in the astronaut training program.
Why this movie rocks:
Mark Watney’s intelligence and knowledge in his botanical field is the only key for his survival and that is something amazing, not everyone will walk in his shoes to be able to go through that situation. On top of that, Mark Watney was really laid back for someone who was left abandoned on Mars and there is an element of humor in this movie. This movie is truly the science of all fiction.
Best scene:
Glove piercing scene
The best scene was when Watney pierces the glove of his pressure suit, using his escaping oxygen as a miniature thruster, in order to come close enough for Lewis to catch him in her MMU in space. There was a presence of fear in every audience during this part.
4. Film name: The Intern
Year Released: 2015
Director: Nancy Meyers
Main Cast: Robert De Niro & Anne Hathaway
Studio: Paramount Pictures Studio
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$ 182.6 million
Brief synopsis:
A 70 year old widower Ben Whitaker decided to take up a senior internship programme after retirement. He works at a growing e-commerce fashion company and managed to impress the workaholic CEO of the company, Jules Ostin. Ben is very committed with his work which makes him very likeable. After all the hardships that Jules is going through, Ben discovered Jules’ husband, Matt is having an affair. In the end, Matt and Jules mutually decided to fix their marriage and she decides to reduce her workload too.
Why this movie rocks:
It is a very likeable movie, it is not often you will get to see a senior internship programme going on in reality. Moreover, the chemistry between the characters felt really natural especially between Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway - it felt more of a father-daughter chemistry rather than being colleagues.
Best scene:
Affair scene
The scene when Ben was driving Paige (Matt & Jules’ daughter) from a party, he discovered Matt was having an affair with another parent which happened to be from Paige’s school. That particular scene really got the audience feeling mad and emotional because after everything that happened, it was really stupid and selfish of Matt to think of having an affair as a way to escape all the hardships that is going on between their marriage.
5. Film Name: Big Hero 6
Year Released: 2014
Director/s: Don Hall, Chris Williams
Main cast: Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez and T.J. Miller.
Studio: Walt Disney Animation
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US $605 million
Brief synopsis:
When disaster strikes in the city of San Fransyoko, Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter) and his trusty plus sized inflatable buddy Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit) go onto an action-comedy filled adventure. Hiro turns to his close friends Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and Fred (voice of T.J. Miller) to uncover the mystery of the event that has involved the death of Hiro’s brother. The six of them then transform into a band of high-tech heroes thus the title name, Big Hero 6.
Why this movie rocks:
It is refreshing to see Disney’s take on Marvel’s creation of Big Hero 6. We are safe to say that the outcome was absolutely outstanding and it has definitely showcased how animation has evolved. It features a balance of breathtaking action scenes and close to heart moments. It is a fun filled and action packed enough for kids and even adults to enjoy. The cast too is fun to watch, with much diversity stuffed into our faces they were made to be very relatable. Oh and not forgetting, Baymax! He was clearly the highlight of the entire movie. From his innocent hysterics to his care for Hiro, Baymax stole the show.
Best scene:
From humorous to tear jerking ones there are plenty of scenes that we can pick out from Big Hero 6. Here we listed down two parts of the movie that we felt have left a lasting impression on us.
Car chase scene

Big Hero 6’s famous car chase left us at the edge of our seat. It was so darn realistic and action-filled that we forgot it was animated. We felt so involved in this chase that we wanted to get away from Yokai, the masked villain, just as much as Hiro and his friends did.
Baymax’s Goodbye

Just like any other Walt Disney Animation Film, we are bound to come upon another one of their worthy tear-jerking legacies and from our eyes we can see that Big Hero 6 has solidify its position through this very scene. The heroic sacrifice that Baymax took to save another life was heartbreaking. Never did we imagine that Hiro had to leave his best companion behind in the portal helpless. The idea was just generally disturbing and what made it more painful were their exchanges during their final goodbye. It was so jarringly real that even us in our 17-18 year old selves bawled.
6. Film name: Gone Girl
Year Released: 2014
Director:David Fincher
Main Cast: Ben Affleck & Rosamund Pike
Studio: 20th Century Fox Studio
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$ 369.3 million
Brief synopsis:
Nick Dunne discovered that his wife Amy went missing during their 5th wedding anniversary. All the evidence discovered led to believing she was murdered but she was instead alive and well though she changed her appearance and went into hiding. She leaves along fake evidence that will trap her husband to be executed for murder though he is innocent. Amy also framed Nick for rape. In the end Amy told Nick ‘the truth’ and wants him to become a man he was before. Nick wanted to expose all of Amy’s lies but instead she told him she was pregnant as a form of distraction.
Why this movie rocks:
This movie has a heavy yet excellent plot twist which made the audience felt taken aback. Unlike most movies which are adapted from novels, this film truly remained the originality from the novel without many major changes. On top of that, Gone Girl is one of those movies which can really make the audience get caught up for all 3 hours of it. The main cast also did a great job by bringing their character to life.
Best scene:
Ending scene
The best scene in Gone Girl would probably be the ending as it was not something the audience would have expected. Amy is the only antagonist who got what she wanted and in the end she “won”. The ending itself definitely pissed off the audience. What’s better than leaving a theater with an unsatisfied and angry feeling about the ending? It clearly shows how good of a movie it was.
7. Film name: The Walk
Year Released: 2015
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Main Cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Charlotte Le Bon, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$41.1 million
Brief synopsis:
When Philippe Petit was a boy, he watched Papa Rudy performing skywire in dazzled crowds. From that day, he decides to become a high-wire artist and his dream is to walk on the tallest building in the world, The World Trade Centre. He was inspired to never give up and keep practice even he fails over every time. But, he learned from his mistakes and experiences in order to succeed. He meets some people whom are willing to assist him. Besides, he faces a lot of hardships during planning. He also asks Papa Rudy for tips and advice for knot tying and rope rigging. Finally, he manages to accomplish his dream to walk on The World Trade Centre.
Why this movie rocks:
The movie strongly describes Philippe Petit persistence in pursuing his dream. In the movie, he faces a lot of hardship but he never quit. Although some people think he was crazy and stubborn, he was persistence with his dream before making his huge breakthrough to success. At the end, he managed to get approval from others and from those of his partners. This movie is really stunning; the director took a good camera shooting in this movie. Besides, the color and the backdrop were very beautiful. I like the actor very much because he achieves the impossible mission with his determination and he is willing to do the hard work necessary to hone his skills.
Best scene:
Wire scene
The best scene in the movie of The Walk is where Philippe Petit lay down and kneels to his audience on the wire. Whenever Philippe begins his walk, he will felt thankful and peace. He said that everything around him faded once he started, except the wire and himself.
8. Film name: San Andreas
Year Released: 2015
Director: Brad Peyton
Studio: Village Roadshow Pictures
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$ 470.5 million
Brief synopsis:
A seemingly ideal day turns disastrous when California's notorious San Andreas fault triggers a devastating, magnitude 9 earthquake, the largest in recorded history. As the Earth cracks open and buildings start to crumble, Ray Gaines, an LAFD search-and-rescue helicopter pilot must navigate the destruction from Los Angeles to San Francisco to bring his estranged wife and their only daughter to safety.
Why this movie rocks:
This disaster movie rocks because Dwayne Johnson as known as the Rock is in it! He has amazing acting skills and great chemistry with his fellow co-stars in the film. The special effects is absolutely splendid, the scenes was really realistic from buildings collapsing up to tsunami waves hitting the city. The film contains a strong family bond between a father and his daughter even though he was divorced. There was some romance in the film that makes it so much better to watch. Besides that, when the earthquake strikes the city along with gigantic tsunamis, the tension and suspense made me sitting by the edge of my seat. All i can say is that everybody should just watch the movie.
Best scene:
Crazy pool scene
The best scene would be the crazy pool scene, it is when Gain’s ex-wife, Emma trying to escape her office building only to discover an adjacent one in the middle of collapsing. The RBD’s create a realistic crumbling effect for the building even though the decent of the debris seems a bit too fast. But the fluid dynamics of the swimming pool’s splashing effects are effectively rendered and the water’s curious activity provides a nice touch of realism to the scene.
9. Film name: Inside Out
Year Released: 2015
Studio: Walt Disney Animation
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$851.3 million
Brief synopsis:
Inside out is a story about 5 personifications of core emotions which are Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger in the 11 years old girl’s mind who is Riley. Her life was changed upside down after her family’s sudden move to San Francisco because of her father need to get a new job. She was force to leave all her friends and wonderful memories in Minnesota. When Sadness begins touching those happy memories, it will mess up all those happy memories, became sad memories. It also causes Joy and Sadness to disappear. Therefore, her life has turned upside down due to sentimental. Thus, Joy and Sadness are going to rescue Riley.
Why this movie rocks:
Inside out rocks because we can learn a lot of moral value from it. The
first value that I learned is the importance of family and friendship. Friends and family members are the ones who are willing to help us solve any sort of problems or when we are in a difficult situation. They will always support us when we are feeling down and be by our side when we need them. In this case, Riley’s parents try to make her happy when she feels upset for being separated with her friends in Minnesota.
Best scene:
Bing Bong's sacrifice scene
Film
Name: The Dark Knight
Year
Released: 2008
Director:
Christopher Nolan
Main
Cast: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal,
Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman
Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Worldwide Box-Office Gross: US$ 1.004 billion
Brief Synopsis:
Christian Bale returns as the black suited,
master detective, multi martial artist superhero, Batman in the sequel The Dark
Knight. This time he faces a new challenge. A maniacal villain is on loose
terrorizing the streets of Gotham City. Played by the late Heath Ledger, The
Joker is finding ways to prove Batman that the people of Gotham City are not
worth saving.
Why this movie rocks:
The acting in this movie was top notched.
Heath Ledger especially was able to portray The Joker perfectly. I could really
feel the insanity from Heath Ledger acting as The Joker. Christian Bale had to
play as 2 roles, Batman and Bruce Wayne. He had to change his voice from a
polite and proper billionaire to a rough and aggressive vigilante. The
storyline of the movie had so much suspense that it brought me to the edge of
my feet. The ambience of the movie was really dark and grim. It was fitting for
a hero that only reveals himself at night.
Best Scene:
Magic trick scene
The first one was when The Joker showed a
magic trick to a group of criminals. The Joker made a pencil magically disappear
by bashing a criminal’s head to the pencil. He ends his magic trick by saying “Tadahhhh”.
I really like this scene because it combines violence and comedy in a ‘magic
trick’.
Hospital
scene
My next favourite scene was when The Joker
visited Harvey Dent in the hospital. The Joker gave Harvey a gun and tells him
that he has the option to end everything by shooting The Joker himself. But
what Harvey did not know was that The Joker was holding the hammer of the gun
to prevent a shot. This scene becomes a fan favourite because The Joker
actually had a cunning backup plan.
